A few months ago, Nissan announced that it would enter into a partnership with Daimler, to build a production facility in Mexico. Earlier this week, we learned that the Aguascalientes facility has officially begun production and the new facility will be located 150 miles northeast of Guadalajara. This new project is expected to boost production rates as quickly as 2017 for Nissan and 2018 for Mercedes-Benz. The plant is expected to have an initial capacity of 230,000 vehicles in the first year and will be the first Mercedes-Benz plant to produce vehicles in the NAFTA region.
