3 Nissan Altima Race Cars in Top 10 at WD-40 SuperSprint

Nissan 2 altima race cars in top 10

This past weekend at the WD-40 SuperSprint in Philip Island, in Australia, three Nissan Altima models finished inside the top 10 finalists. Todd Kelly finished in fifth place, Rick finished in sixth place and James Moffat came in eighth place. The other Altima model on the track, #23 NISMO entry of Michael Caruso spent much of the early part of the race inside the top five; however, after a clutch issue, which caused the wheels to spin during a tire change, driver, Michael Caruso crossed the checkered flag in 22nd place. In a post race interview, Michael Caruso, said: “The car is obviously very quick but unfortunately suffered a clutch problem which ultimately ended the great result we were heading towards. Everyone is disappointed, but hopefully they can find out what exactly the problem was and we can rectify it for Sydney in a couple of weeks.”

Last year’s festival brought in 35,000 fans, so the expectations for this year’s turnout is expected to be tremendous. The event first opened in 1997, making 2015, the 17th year this event has been hosted. This year’s event will focus on taking a look back on the history of NISMO, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary. This year the festival will take place on November 29th and will kick off with an opening ceremony in which all active drives and team principals will be present.

The Renault-Nissan Alliance has recently installed 90 new charging stations for electric vehicles in Paris. The charging stations were donated by Schneider Electric, which will refuel 200 EVs serving as VIP shuttles for negotiators, delegates and media attending the conference. Renault-Nissan Chairman and CEO Carlos Ghosn, said: “COP21 is a call to action to reduce the impact of climate change – including global warming resulting from personal transportation. Electric vehicles are the only existing, practical and affordable transportation solution to our planet’s environmental challenges, and they are available today. Expanding the EV infrastructure is mandatory for any city of state that’s serious about environmental stewardship.”

No Match for the 2016 Nissan Altima

The 2016 Nissan Altima is the product of a mid-cycle refresh and its most obvious updates come in its new front and rear fascias. The Altima now shares a few of the same styling cues as the Murano and the new Maxima. Additionally, the vehicle features new headlights, taillights and settle changes to hood, fenders and event trunk. The new Altima also adopted the new D-Step CVT, which is also found on the Murano and Maxima models. Nissan reported that the vehicle will carry an EPA ratings of 39 MPG on the highway and 27 MPG in the city = 31 MPG combined.

Nissan Converts SUV into PS4 Controller

Nissan, Konami and Sony have partnered up to turn a Qashqai crossover SUV into a PS4 controller. The vehicle will be used to play Pro Evolution Soccer 2016. “Players pass the ball with the brake pedal and shoot on goal with the gas pedal, controlling the direction of players with the steering wheel. The windshield washer lever handles cross passes, the phone button makes players sprint, and the turn signal is used to navigate up and down.” Using nontraditional controllers to play video games has become somewhat of a trend now and video games can now be played with your feet, bongos, a guitar hero controller, keyboard and mouse, etc.

The year-old program, which began with the JUKE, and after receiving positive feedback from its customers, the Japanese automaker is extending the program into another one of its popular models: the Versa. The Color Studio, offers a number of accessories and allows a customers to customize up to 13 accessories on their cars. Some parts cost extra and can be installed by the dealership and finance there as well. The customization program was originally launched at the LA Auto Show last year.

Nissan Motor Co. recently announced that it plans to double production in its South Africa production facility. The Japanese automaker expects to see an increase of 80,000 vehicles a year as the new model pickup truck launches. Nissan South Africa Managing Director, Mike Whitfield, recently said: “Like any investment decision there are a number of key milestones, but we are moving forward. It would be a new product with a lot more potential in Africa.” The overall number of vehicles produced in South Africa is expected to grow to 622,000 this year.

Nissan Motor Co.’s CEO, Carlos Ghosn, continues to push the company’s goals to drive and evolve the automaker. Ghosn plans to boost Nissan’s operating profit margin to 8% – from 6.7% for the six months ending in September. Additionally, Ghosn, plans to capture an 8% global market share is less than a year and a half from his deadline. Moreover, Nissan plans to see significant growth in the U.S. – Ghosn expects to see another 2% or 3% growth. In a recent interview, Ghosn said: “They’re not envisioning significant growth in the U.S., but it’s a very healthy market at more than 17 million vehicles on an annual trend now. And for next year, they continue to see growth. We’ll make our forecast in January at the Detroit auto show.”

Matt Simmons recently was named the first place winner of the 2015 Nissan PlayStation GT Academy International competition; this past weekend Simmons, had his first test of the Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 race car at the Snetterton circuit in the UK. Simmons has shown terrific work ethic and skill through the Nissan Driver Development Program to date. At the first test of the Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3, said: “When I go to any test, race day or tuition, it is still pretty surreal to wake up and think that’s what I get to do. It’s weird to adjust and say this is my life. You’ve got to make the most out of the tuition days and learn from these guys. It’s not every day that they can sit in your passenger seat and see directly what you are doing, and the feedback you get I amazing.”

Nissan has officially announced the pricing on the 2016 Nissan LEAF model, which is expected to go on sale very soon across the nation. The new model provides an EPA-rated best-in-class range of 107 miles – representing a 27% increase over the previous model. The new model will have a starting price of $26,700. The LEAF S models continue to be equipped with a 24 kWh battery with an EPA-rated range of 84 miles and a starting price of $21,510 after federal tax incentive. This is tremendous step for the automaker; since the LEAF originally launched in December 2010, Nissan has become the global leader in electric vehicle sales and Nissan has been able to maintain its leadership by its continuous efforts to developing battery technology that is above average.
