January 2016 has been quite a good month for Nissan, the renowned Japanese automaker. The group posted an increase in sales in the United States by 1.6% in January. The increase was as opposed to its sales a year before. Once again, the figures prove that the customers simply love the trucks, crossovers and sports-utility vehicles.
United States have a robust market as it has posted the fastest sales growth in a decade. Nissan seems to be benefiting from the prevailing market conditions in the US. The demand for the company’s Altima sedans and Rouge crossovers have been on the rise. No matter it will offset Nissan’s not so encouraging sales in China and Japan.
There was an increase of 2.9 percent for the Nissan brand that is the namesake of the company. On the other hand, sales for the luxury Infiniti brand dipped by 11.8 percent.
Earlier, the analysts at Edmunds.com had made a projection that there will be a sales growth of 1.5 percent for the Nissan group. The projected figure was quite encouraging for the company as the analysts felt that the overall automobile industry will have a decrease of about 0.5 percent.
The month of January saw an increase of 18 percent in the sales of sports utility vehicles, pickups, and crossovers for Nissan. The trend in the automobile industry was quite obvious as many shoppers were found to deviate from small cars to bigger ones. The reason was simply. Prices of gasoline are low so bigger cars are economical to operate.
