Nissan Gives $1 Million To Habitat For Humanity—Again.

“Nissan has a heroic history with Habitat for Humanity.”

 

More than a decade ago, Nissan donated 50 trucks and their employees’ time in order to help and support home building efforts in the Gulf Coast region after it was hit by major hurricanes Katrina and Rita, causing severe damage to the area. That was the beginning of a partnership with Habitat for Humanity that has grown over the years, resulting in donations from Nissan totaling around $14 million.

 

This past August, Nissan North America announced a $1 million grant to help build more homes for families in need. Decent, affordable housing is simply out of reach for many, and it is part of the mission of Nissan North America to enrich the lives of people.

 

Jonathan Reckford, CEO of Habitat for Humanity International said,

“We thank Nissan for continuing to give back to communities across the country… we are grateful for their long-term support and commitment to help families build strength, stability and self-reliance.”

 

The largest portion of the $1 million grant will be used to build more homes for those who are in need of decent, affordable housing. A smaller portion will be used to add more vehicles to Habitat’s current fleet in order to support disaster recovery efforts. Nissan employees will again volunteer their time and participate in community revitalization projects and home construction. Projects this year will happen in 12 Habitat communities across the country and in Canada.

The anticipation has been building and we are finally here in September, the month of the SUV. One model that we are very excited about is the 2017 Nissan Pathfinder, which was officially released this month for purchase. What we love about the 2017 Nissan Pathfinder is that it finally has brought its styling up to its performance level. In 2013 the Pathfinder went from body-on-frame construction to a unibody platform, making it more of a crossover classification than a true SUV. This is all good because the crossover category is where the growth is. However, it took a few more years for the Pathfinder to find itself: just because it’s officially a crossover, doesn’t mean it has to forego its outdoorsy, truck-like appeal.
