Nissan Begins First Tests Of A New E-Power Engine

When selecting a new car to buy, you take into account a number of different factors. Qualities such as design, interior material choice and horsepower all can play a big role in determining if a certain vehicle fits your lifestyle well. One of the most important traits to think about however is the gas mileage, which can save you hundreds if not thousands of dollars over the course of the car’s lifetime. Nissan’s new e-Power engine, which can be found on the newest Nissan Note, is looking to be a revolutionary development as it has drastically boosted the fuel economy of the car.

The e-Power engine is a replacement for traditional combustion engines, and works using a slightly different method. It still makes use of a combustion system, but it takes that energy and uses it to power an electric motor that ultimately drives the car forward. The first test prototype of this engine also rivals the horsepower and torque output of internal combustion engines, allowing you to save on gas without sacrificing driving power or acceleration. Thanks to this engine’s S mode, it can minimize gas consumption by operating at the lowest revs.

So just how much money can this engine save you? The latest test drive on the streets of Yokohama had a fuel economy of a whopping 88 mpg. This is easily 50 mpg more than many hybrid sedans and 60 mpg more than traditional gas powered cars. If you think that may just be an outlier, the official, JCo8-sanctioned gas consumption is 87.5 mpg. Even over rough terrain such as hills, the car manages to reach over 50 mpg.

The latest #NissanNote equipped with e-Power will be available for test drives at Cardinale Nissan in the near future. You can check out all our current deals and extensive inventory in person or online at www.cardinalenissan.com.
