Nissan Motor Co. recently announced that it plans to double production in its South Africa production facility. The Japanese automaker expects to see an increase of 80,000 vehicles a year as the new model pickup truck launches. Nissan South Africa Managing Director, Mike Whitfield, recently said: “Like any investment decision there are a number of key milestones, but we are moving forward. It would be a new product with a lot more potential in Africa.” The overall number of vehicles produced in South Africa is expected to grow to 622,000 this year.
