Nissan’s New Interactive Brochure Puts More Power in Shoppers’ Hands

Cardinale Nissan 2_InteractiveApp

Nissan recently released a free app, which is available for tablets on both IOS and Android, allowing buyers to get detailed information about any Nissan vehicle. The interactive app includes videos and animated demonstrations of things like Advanced Drive-Assist Display, allowing users to delve into the features and benefits of the model(s) they desire. Shoppers can build a vehicle within the app, then connect to the manufacturer’s site for pricing and connect with their local dealer. At Cardinale Nissan in Seaside, we find that half, if not most, of our shoppers use a mobile device during the research phase. VP of Marketing Communications & Media at Nissan North America, Jeremy Tucker, notes that the new app “delivers on Nissan’s brand promise of innovation and excitement for everyone.” He continues that it represents “the clearest, most transparent presentation of vehicle options and trim levels we’ve ever offered.” Check it out today, available for download in the Apple Store and Google Play. And when you’re ready to engage with your questions, the friendly team at Cardinale Nissan is eager to connect with you. Remember that in the month of December, every new Nissan at Cardinale Nissan is sold at or under invoice. What better reason to get excited!

Nissan LEAF Gets “Vehicle 2 Grid” Tech

Cardinale Nissan 1_V2G

Get excited! Nissan has come up with a way to use the multi-kWh battery in its LEAF electric vehicle as a mobile power plant for homes, offices, or for returning energy to the grid. Similar to Tesla’s Powerwall, Nissan’s “Vehicle 2 Grid” (V2G) technology could save you money by powering your home during peak hours. At night, you could then charge the LEAF’s battery, leveraging the lower energy prices during off-peak timeframes. What’s more, by sending excess power back to the grid, you could even receive a discount on energy bills. Initially, V2G would ideally be complemented by a renewable energy source like solar. In a partnership with energy company ENEL, Nissan’s V2G charger runs around $900 – significantly less than Tesla’s Powerwall system, which will cost you a whopping $3,000. The V2G system launches in Denmark, followed by pilot programs in Germany, Netherlands and other northern European regions. To receive updates, or to test drive the LEAF, visit Cardinale Nissan in Seaside. During the month of December, we are selling every new car at invoice. That’s correct – not “$X over invoice”, but AT INVOICE, or in some cases, even less. Stop by today, and get excited! There has never been a better time to buy your new Nissan.

Forbes Hails the 2016 Nissan Altima as “Rising Tide in Shrinking Pool”

Cardinale Nissan 2_2016Altima

In a recent Forbes article, the 2016 Nissan Altima gets high praise. Though the midsize sedan segment is small and shrinking, Forbes notes that the 2016 Altima hopes “to give sedan (shoppers) a reason to become sedan owners.” With its updates to the exterior design, advancements in safety technology, improved driving experience and better fuel economy, the 2016 makes “a strong case against going SUV,” notes Forbes. The new Altima features a new design incorporating a more sleek, aerodynamic “energetic flow”. This includes a new hood, fenders, head and tail lights, and front and rear fascias. The highway fuel efficiency goes from good to great, jumping from 38 to 39 mpg. The 2016 Altima also receives significant tech upgrades with a focus on safety. Included standard are predictive forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot warning and rear cross-traffic alert. Optional radar-based smart cruise control. Also available is a SIRI eyes-free control, through a button on the steering wheel. NissanConnect brings a host of services including emergency calling and remote door unlock. Also new is the SR trim, which brings heightened performance with the 2.5 or the 3.5-liter engine, paddle shifters and a more sporty suspension setup. Forbes praises the new Altima for feeling “more responsive to steering and throttle inputs”, even at the entry-level trim package. Also noted was the drastic reduction in road noise. “All these upgrades, plus higher quality interior materials and a cleaner control layout,” notes Forbes, place the 2016 Nissan Altima at the top of its class. Test drive one today at Cardinale Nissan in Seaside. Get excited about year-end incentives that help put you in a car you love.

“No Charge to Charge” Program Expands

Cardinale Nissan 1 charging station

Nissan’s free electric vehicle charging program, “No Charge to Charge”, expands to the Twin Cities. Previously, the markets covered included Los Angeles, Chicago, Boston, Salt Lake City and Austin. The program, which is limited to public (not home) charging, offers two free years of charging for anyone who buys a new Nissan LEAF. It works like this: buy a new LEAF, receive a card that grants access to multiple charging networks. It’s easy to get a 30-minute DC fast charge, or a one-hour Level 2 charge; enough time to go from 0-80%. The EZ-Charge cards are created by NRG eVgo. The card can be used at four charging station brands: ChargePoint, Blink Network/Car Charging Group, NRG eVgo, and AeroVironment. If that’s not reason to Get Excited, we don’t know what is! Stop by Cardinale Nissan today in Seaside, and get ready to turn over a new LEAF, with some great year-end lease options.

Nissan seeks to Raise its Stake in Renault

Cardinale Nissan 2 hand shaking hand shaking

Nissan is seeking to limit state voting rights in Renault, as well as written guarantees against intervention in its operations by the French carmaker, which owns 43.4 percent of Nissan. The Japanese automaker seeks to raise its own stake in Renault to 25 percent or more, in order to deter management interference by the French government. Since Renault rescued Nissan from near-bankruptcy in 1999, the Japanese automaker has outgrown its parent, accounting for two-thirds of combined sales. The alliance has been under negotiations since April, when Paris raised its stake in Renault from 15 to 19.7 percent, securing double voting rights. Nissan and French officials have been negotiating for months, but on December 11th, Renault’s board decides on a response to the French government power grab. France recently offered to limit the exercise of its voting rights in Renault. Instead, Nissan seeks to neutralize Renault’s control through written undertakings. Currently, Renault has the right to name Nissan’s top three executives, among other things. “What the French intervention has revealed is that the current alliance structure is inadequate,” said a source close to Nissan. “We need governance put in place to prevent this happening again.”

Miss. Nissan Plant Breaks Manufacturing Records

Cardinale Nissan 2

The Canton, Mississippi-based Nissan plant not only produced a chart-topping 33,000 vehicles in October, but expects to turn out 350,000 vehicles in 2015. Steve March, VP of Manufacturing, said the plant’s productivity is largely based on the 6,000-member workforce, “The men and women of Canton have really worked hard to get us to this. It hasn’t been without difficulties but we’ve overcome each and every one of them. It shows the commitment that Nissan has in this particular facility. We’re a global player, we’re a big player in the Nissan world, and it’s really important for us today.” The Nissan Titan XD will be one of nine vehicles produced in the Canton plant. The Frontier and Murano crossover SUV are produced on the same line as the Titan. March adds, “There’s no other facility in the Nissan world that has the same level of complexity that we do here.” The 2016 Titan XD is expected to hit dealers by late December. To reserve yours today, visit the friendly folks at Cardinale Nissan in Seaside.

CEO Says Nissan’s Electric Cars Are for the Masses

Cardinale Nissan 1

If you ask Carlos Ghosn, CEO of The Renault Nissan Alliance, bringing electric cars to the masses is their focus. You won’t see Nissan “going niche” to compete with Tesla in the luxury electric vehicle segment. That said, any specialization with electric cars will be in the crossover category, according to Ghosn. CUVs are currently experiencing a boom in the U.S., Europe and China. More immediate focus is on rolling out the next-generation LEAF, expected in 2017 or 2018. Nissan’s only electric car in the U.S., the LEAF is reported to receive a significant battery upgrade, as well as body redesign, in the coming model years. With MSRP starting under $30k, the Nissan LEAF is certainly more attainable for the masses than some of its luxury competitors. If you’d like to learn more about the automaker’s roadmap for electric vehicles, drop by Cardinale Nissan in Seaside today. Go green and get excited!

3 Nissan Altima Race Cars in Top 10 at WD-40 SuperSprint

Nissan 2 altima race cars in top 10

This past weekend at the WD-40 SuperSprint in Philip Island, in Australia, three Nissan Altima models finished inside the top 10 finalists. Todd Kelly finished in fifth place, Rick finished in sixth place and James Moffat came in eighth place. The other Altima model on the track, #23 NISMO entry of Michael Caruso spent much of the early part of the race inside the top five; however, after a clutch issue, which caused the wheels to spin during a tire change, driver, Michael Caruso crossed the checkered flag in 22nd place. In a post race interview, Michael Caruso, said: “The car is obviously very quick but unfortunately suffered a clutch problem which ultimately ended the great result we were heading towards. Everyone is disappointed, but hopefully they can find out what exactly the problem was and we can rectify it for Sydney in a couple of weeks.”
