One of the best parts about living in the Monterey area is that there is always something to do. There are hundreds of restaurants, scenic drives and beautiful beaches to stop by, each of which you could easily spend hours at. Exploring Monterey in a Nissan Altima or Nissan Juke is one of our favorite pastimes at #CardinaleNissan, so here is a quick list of some great spots to spend a weekend afternoon.
The 17-Mile Drive:
We may be a bit biased, but the 17-mile drive is one of the most relaxing and beautiful tours of in our area. This scenic route follows the raised cliffs over gorgeous bridges and through the heart of Highway 1. You can find all sorts of lookouts and trails to walk along at designated spots, so you can experience the true beauty of coastal nature. There is a wide selection of restaurants along the way that feature the freshest seafood on the west coast, along with several historic locations to stop by. There is a lighthouse built in 1872, plenty of seaside mansions and of course the legendary Pebble Beach Golf Course. The course has a visitor’s area as well, with old photos of stars that have played rounds and even a viewing area of the 18th green.
Historical Monuments and Museums:
If you are looking to do some actual exploring of your own, there a few destinations that might catch your eye. The Cannery Row Monument offers a great view of the ocean along with a look at some historic statues that celebrate the achievements of the novelist John Steinbeck. The surrounding park is a great place to spend some time with family and friends, as well. If you are interested in some scientific discovery, Doc Rickett’s Pacific Biological Laboratories is a fun and educational place to bring the kids. It also happens to be near the famous #Monterey Bay Aquarium as well, so you can experience the best of marine biology.
