Nissan Unveils The First Electric Sports Car Fit For The Track

It’s not often that you can find both smart and sporty in a car, especially if you are looking for something fuel efficient. Many of the hybrids or electric cars on the market right now don’t have the engine power needed to race down an open road, while sport cars generally feature a low fuel efficiency. Nissan has been hard at work unifying these two concepts and they recently unveiled a new prototype EV sports car, the Blade Glider, which you can find in the near future at Cardinale Nissan.

The first look at this new racer came in a viral video which featured famous actress Margot Robbie piloting the twists and turns of the Monaco streets. In the video, she shows off the car’s pinpoint maneuverability and speed by driving the car around an iconic part of the racing world: the Fairmont Hairpin. The car has a never before seen the powertrain electric engine which was built by UK-based Williams Advanced Engineering. In under five seconds this new masterpiece can easily accelerate the car to 60 miles per hour with a maximum speed of 115 mph. It is capable of this amazing feat thanks to two 130 kW electric motors for each wheel that utilizes the latest EV technology to the fullest.

 

Another significant feature that sets the #BladeGlider apart from the competition is its seat configuration, with one driver’s seat in the “nose” of the car and two in back. Embrace A Bolder Look With A Midnight Edition model from Cardinale Nissan

The color black looks good on almost every car model, so it’s no surprise that the sleek and powerful Nissan Maxima “Midnight Edition” found so much success last year. This combined package includes a new paint job, additional performance features and a black-trim on parts of the interior. This year, even more Midnight Editions have been announced for the rest of your favorite Nissan models: the Nissan Altima, Sentra, Rogue, Murano and Pathfinder.

At auto shows like the Chicago one that was held a few weeks ago, car makers get to show off their latest updates and offerings for Spring and Summer. Nissan fitting didn’t reveal the Midnight Editions when the show started Thursday morning, but instead drew a crowd late Wednesday night. The Midnight Maxima currently makes up 85 percent of all Maxima SR sales as consumers love the black-on-black look. Eric Ledieu, Nissan’s consumer marketing director, asked dealers like Cardinale Nissan if they wanted more Midnight Editions and they, “…responded by asking us to please make it happen very quickly.”

The #MidnightEdition comes with several exclusive features, and all at half the cost of the upgrades by themselves. A quick look at the car will reveal all the intricate black styling that is part of the wheels, mirrors, floor mats and the spoiler. Crossovers like the Rogue and Pathfinder also will get black roof racks and splash guards. Nissan also happens to offer the package in body colors of white, red or gunmetal grey, in case you just want a little extra black trim. Look for the Midnight Edition to appear on even more vehicles if this second round is a success, and Ledieu commented, “You see this level of personalization becoming popular, creating a sporty look with dark wheels, dark accents.”
