Safe driving is all about the driver’s response to an unexpected situation. The response technology in Nissan cars assists the driver in deploying an appropriate reaction once the situation is identified by the monitoring systems.

The respond systems include:

  • Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC): Electronic stability Program also defines VDC, which is a computer controlled system that primarily increases the stability of a vehicle by identifying and subsiding traction loss. When the vehicle begins to skid, brakes are applied automatically to steer back the car in the direction the driver was originally on. Brakes are targeted to each tire depending on the need. Two years after its debut in the Sao Paulo International Auto Show, the Nissan Kicks is finally gearing up to hit the market. The car set for release may not be as shiny and sleek as its prototype but is every bit impressive. To meet the initial demand, the car is set for mass manufacture in Mexico.

Drive terrain

Details of the drive terrain of the Kicks are still in the dark. The only information that is confirmed is the horse power offered on the automatic transmission based on the image released of the car. Considering that the Nissan Juke will become obsolete, there are high chances of the 188hp, 1.6L engine turbocharged engine to find a new home in the Kicks. Or, the car manufacturer can alternatively include the slightly less powerful 170hp, 2.5L engine with natural aspirations as seen in the Nissan Rogue. The larger engine may be much likely if the car is set to release in the US market.

Currently the primary sale target of the Rogue is Brazil. This could also mean that the car can be inspired by the Qashqai- 1.6 or 1.2 L fuel or 1.6 and 1.5L diesel engine. The actual information is set to release closer to the release date.

The pricing of the car is another unknown at this point. Considering that the Kicks is a replacement to the Juke, the estimated pricing is around $20,000 range.

With design similarities to the 2014 debutant Concept showcased at the Sao Paulo International Auto Show, Kicks from Nissan is the latest addition in the cross over segment.

Exterior design

A sight to admire, the exterior of the Kicks carries the trademark V-Motion grille flanked on either side by headlights shaped like an inverted arch. The captivating design of the headlights seems to rise up from underneath the hood and kiss the top softly. The uninterrupted flow of the hood is disturbed by slight ridges at the edges before it continues down on either side. Add to the picture, fog lights nestled at the bottom (fascia corners), the collector’s piece is completed.

On setting your eyes on the car, a feature hard to miss is the alluring orange finish of the wraps on the roof around the sides which gives an illusion of a visor wrapped around effect.

If the front of the car is worth a second look, the sides do not disappoint. The fluidic lines curve along the sides of the car from the rear headlight to meet the seam below the front door, making the wheel arch the most dominant feature. A secondary body line connects the doors and moves upward to meet the rear; not to forget the additional protection offered to the doors by the body cladding on their sides.

The rear of the car is stylishly painted to match that of the roof. The design of the tail lights is similar to the front lights.

Nissan Gripz – The Concept That Can Be Part III

The interior of the Nissan Gripz Concept does not look as explosive as the exterior of the car. The interior of the car has been modeled on the features of racing bicycles. The Gripz Concept could well go on to become an inspiration for all the future crossovers in the Nissan Z family.

2+2 molded bucket seats and bare tubes resemble the features of a bicycle. The steering wheel, too, is exposed. Almost the same graphics have been used in the tire sidewalls as well as the door pulls. Overall, the features resemble the saddles of a racing bike.

The instrument cluster has a chronograph inspired design. Although it looks very sophisticated, the cluster has not got a very functional display. The floating digital display between the double-layered dashboards is quite unusual. The rest of the cabin looks very subdued.

Nissan has not divulged much detail about the drivetrain of the Gripz Concept. It has only revealed that the compact crossover will be equipped with an EV technology based series hybrid system called the “Pure Drive e-Power”. It will have an electric motor and an engine that runs on gas. Nissan has the capability of coming up with an innovative and evolutionary engine system.

Nissan Gripz – The Concept That Can Be Part II

Going by the features of the Nissan Gripz Concept it can be said that the car has a dual personality. The exterior of the concept car has a lot to offer. It looks quite trendy and aggressive.

The hood draws heavily from the 1970-1978 family of Datsun 240Z Nissan sports cars. It blends into the V-motion grille. Rectangular lamps with high and low beams are found on either side of the grille. These lamps have forward facing cameras in them. One end of the boomerang shaped headlights rests on the hood and the other end finishes into the fender.

The front section, for example the fenders and the bumper, seems to be made from a single panel. There are no specific ending of one and the beginning of the other. They blend in together seamlessly. The panel extends all the way to the A-pillars. The concept has 3 spoke 22 inch wheels custom made by Bridgestone.

The presence of scissor doors in the front and suicide doors in the rear do look a bit strange when they are open. But these do away with the need for a B-pillar. It makes getting in and out of the car a lot easier. The floating roof gives the car a somewhat coupe-like body styling.

The Nissan Gripz Concept is designed using the new and Nissan’s very own ‘emotional geometry’ design language. The end product ensures that the Gripz makes a statement allowing Nissan followers to have something to feast their eyes on.

The crossover Gripz Concept includes four key design components. It has a V-motion grille, boomerang lamps in the rear and the front, a floating roof as well as a kicked up C-pillar. It is unlike anything seen before in Europe. Nissan had used these same components for its Sway model in the 2015 Geneva Motor Show.

Nissan is considered to be the pioneer of the compact crossover idea. According to the Senior Vice President and Chief Creative Officer of Nissan, Mr. Shiro Nakamura, the Gripz compact crossover has not been designed to replace the immensely successful Qashqai and Juke. The Gripz, however, tries to show to the world what it is capable of.

In the Gripz, two contradictions have been fused together – superior technology and simplicity. Nissan’s Ultra Low Precious Metal Catalyst

Nissan, in response to recent strictures concerning the exhaust emissions regulations, has developed technology to achieve identical performance as conventional catalysts-but utilizing only half of the precious metal amounts.

Exhaust cleaning is achieved using the precious metals like rhodium, platinum and palladium inside catalyst. The high temperature within conventional catalysts results in the cluster up of precious metals. This reduces surface area of the exposed metal, resulting in the less effective cleaning of gases. This problem is compensated by the new catalyst using advanced nano technology to ensure that the fine metal particles are separated. The quantity of precious metals as a result can be largely reduced, with no effect of performance.

The substrates get clustered under high temperatures. To prevent this, wall material is used to encircle the substrates. The strengthening of chemical cohesion between precious metals and substrates, and the movement of the fine precious metals upon substrate could be restricted to make sure that clustering does not happen again.
